We source our food based on seasonality, which means working with what product is available locally. We seek out numerous farm collectives to provide us with as much variety of produce available throughout the northeast. Using local farm collectives allows us to support smaller farms and reduce our carbon footprint. These farms are either certified organic or use organic practices in their production.

As far as meat and poultry, our first choice is to use local farmers/ranchers whose animals are out to pasture and slaughtered humanely. If this does not fit within a specific budget, we look for the next most sustainable option, either grass-fed or grass-finished and preferably with non-gmo feed.

For seafood and fish, we reference the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch website and work with our sales representatives to make the most responsible choices.

For all other items, a strong effort is made to support small businesses and purchase items that are organic, non- gmo, fair trade and ethically sourced. A large majority of the products used at Poppy’s meet these guidelines. We ask that clients remain flexible with menu options so that we can continue our commitment to responsible sourcing.
